We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land where I/we work and live. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging. We celebrate the stories, culture and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders of all communities who also work and live on this land.

At Browns Plains Medical Centre & Skin Cancer Clinic our aim is to ensure our patients’ health needs are met. Our practice is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment whilst promoting health, wellbeing and disease prevention to all patients. We are committed to ensuring the highest standard of patient care whilst incorporating a holistic approach toward diagnosis and management of illness. We do not discriminate in the provision of excellent care and aim to treat all patients with dignity and respect.

We are a QPA Accredited General Practice. General practice accreditation is independent recognition that this practice is committed to delivering safe and high quality healthcare to our patients by complying with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) Standards for General Practices.

Privacy Policy

Browns Plains Medical Centre value our patient's privacy and committed to ensuring that the privacy of all patient records with a high degree of confidentiality. Your medical records are a confidential document. All staff at Browns Plains Medical Centre & Skin Cancer Clinic respect the privacy and confidentiality of your health records.  

 

All Patient records are the property of Browns Plains Medical Centre. We will, where practicable, collect information directly from you. This information may be collected by medical or non-medical staff. We may also need to collect information from other sources such as treating specialists, radiologists, pathologists, hospitals, other health care providers and other third parties.

It is the policy of this practice to always maintain security of personal health information and to ensure that this information is only available to authorized members of staff or seek your permission before disclosing it to any third party.If you have any concerns about your health information privacy, please let your doctor or reception staff know.

 

Recall and Reminder Sytem

We are committed to preventative care, all patients are offered the opportunity of being in a reminder system for a range of clinical issues, such as appointments or follow ups.

Our Practice is committed to preventive and holistic health care and follows best practice guideline. We send scheduled preventive health reminders to patients by SMS.  We also use SMS reminders for appointment bookings.

Our practice participates in National, State or Territory Reminder System. Please advise the receptionist if you want to opt out.

Telephone Policy

If you wish to talk to your Doctor or Nurse, please do not hesitate to contact us during operating hours. If the person you wish to speak is not available, please leave a message with reception staff and they will contact you as soon as possible. If your call is urgent, please be sure to tell the person taking your message. Staff will take your details and will only interrupt a consultation if the problem is urgent.

Tests Results

If you have had a test done, please be sure to contact the clinic 2-3 working days following the test for the results, or as advised by your doctor.  Through our Recall and Reminder System, patients will be notified to book a follow up appointment.  It is our policy not to notify patients if an appointment with the doctor is not required following tests. 

It is the policy of the practice to not disclose any results over the phone. 

My Health Record

Our practice is registered to access My Health Records.

 

My Health Record is a secure online summary of your health information. If you wish to not be participate, please opt out before the 15 November 2018 by visiting the My Health Record website.

After Hours Care

Browns Plain Medical Centre & Skin Cancer Clinic is subscribed to after-hours service and they are contactable on Hello Home Doctor to ensure our patients have 24 hour care.

Electronic Communication Policy

Even if you have provided electronic contact details, not everyone is proficient in communicating via electronic means. Prior consent is obtained before engaging in electronic communication. Electronic communication includes email, facsimile and Short Message Service (SMS). Our patients are informed of the risks associated with some methods of electronic communications and that their privacy and confidentiality may be compromised.

Home Visits

Home visits are at discretion of the treating doctor. Home Visits are deemed on certain conditions only for our ongoing patients which have following conditions 

Immobile           Elderly              Disability

Patient Feedback, Rights and Complaints

We welcome any feedback that will help us improve our services. We take your concerns, suggestions and complaints seriously.

If we have done something well please let us know and ask the receptionist for a feedback form. If you are unhappy with any aspect of the services we provided or feel your rights are not supported, we would appreciate your comments. Your Doctor, the Practice Manager and the reception staff on duty are available to discuss any problem you may have.

Walk ins

Our medical centre operates on an appointment basis.  Appointments can be made online at anytime using the Hotdoc App.  Alternatively please phone the practice for an appointment during opening hours.
